JANE WYMAN returns for the three final episodes to help save the series end. So does CHAO-LI CHI.
Beginning this episode, DAVID SELBY plays his rôle much more intensely again. Now he seems to be the old Richard again. Is this caused by JANE's return or from learning that this trashy season and also the series will eventually come to an end soon?

Fictional entity: The shutdown of Richard's company offices, Channing & Associates, is taken care of by Mancini Bros. Moving Company.

Mistake: In the scene when Richard has the movers clean out his office, a Mancini Bros. Moving Company laborer with a light gray hat is passing by in the background. After the cut to the close-up of Julius, he is not visible for approximately five seconds (screen grab 2) although Richard and Julius are standing very close together. He finally moves into the picture much too late (screen capture 3). Apparently, various takes were combinded in the editing process.
Again, this is the typical mistake caused by the particular close-up filming technique — check # 001 (Chase and Maggie at the Gioberti Family Cemetery) for details.

Another mistake of the same kind occurs just moments later within the same scene: In a close-up of Richard, a woman starts passing by Richard and Julius in the background; as other shots during this scene reveal, this is a black-haired lady with a chignon. But in the subsequent close-up of Julius (immediately after cutting away from Richard), a different woman with long brunette hair is walking along in the background.

An old night clip of a short anthracite gray Cadillac Fleetwood 75 limousine driving along a bend is reused. It was shot during season 7 filming in the Napa Valley. In # 214 (screen grab 1), it posed as Sharpe's limo leaving Falcon Crest, now (screen capture 2) it is Richard's heading towards Falcon Crest. It is actually the same picture car as Angela's limo, which has been in use since season 7 and was also prominently featured this season in # 209 — not an appropriate way of cutting down production costs.
To make matters worse, a black stretched 1985 Lincoln Town Car (screen grab 3) was used for filming the limo interiors and the exterior close-up when it arrives at the Falcon Crest Victorian Mansion — the same picture car that usually poses as Sharpe's limo this season. The license plate was exchanged though; the number of Richard's limo is 3B086C7.

Editing mistake: The position of the limo, which is supposed to be parked on the driveway in front of the Falcon Crest Victorian Mansion, and the view of the mansion from Richard and Lauren's point of view do not match. They both should rather be much closer to the mansion because the driveway is directly in front of it. This is caused by the fact that the editors have stock footage of the house only.

The positive aspect about the shot, however, is that this is a previously unused clip of the house. It was filmed in the Napa Valley during season 1 already.

Genele now obviously lives in an apartment she rented. What happened to the Agretti Residence?

Lighting mistake: One of the studio lights in the greenbeds above the interior set of the reception area in Sharpe's office is in the wrong position. Strange reflections on ANDREA THOMPSON are the result in the scene with Genele.

Mistake: In the scene when Richard has his things moved into his office in the Falcon Crest Winery Building, the same Mancini Bros. laborer with the light gray hat known from the beginning of this episode (see above) walks past Richard from the office space towards the catwalk and stairway leading to the wine cellar. In the long shot, however, he walks past Richard (as well as Lance and Pilar) in the same direction again just within seconds. The time is much too short for him to have gone back and forth. The shots are from various takes combined in the editing process.
Again, this is the typical mistake caused by the particular close-up filming technique — check # 001 (Chase and Maggie at the Gioberti Family Cemetery) for details.

Another mistake of the same kind occurs just moments later within the same scene: Pilar first looks up to Richard over her right shoulder. In the subsequent frame filmed from across, however, she looks down to the floor in front of her and no longer over her shoulder.

Falcon Crest Winery Building interior set — inconsistencies: Inside the front office, a chalkboard is mounted on the wall next to the door (screen grab 1). Also note the width of the wall between the window to the barrel room and the corner (yellow arrow). When Lance and Pilar leave the office and go down the stairs to the barrel room, the "exteriors" of the office quarters look different (screen capture 2): Where the chalkboard is on the inside, there seems to be a window from this perspective (red arrow); there is practically no wall between the corner and the window, but just a wooden pole (yellow arrow).
The separate office part of the set (compare # 207 for details) was not designed accurately to match the existing barrel room set.

Angela was in room 159 at the Queen of the Valley Hospital.

Lighting mistake: One of the studio lights in the greenbeds above the interior set of the Queen of the Valley Hospital is in the wrong position; a strange reflection from one of them on LORENZO LAMAS is the result in the scene with Lance, Pilar and nurse Natalie.

The initial script contained a scene with Lance and Pilar consulting with Angela's lawyer after she disappeared from the hospital. Lance concludes from that meeting that Chao-Li has been taking care of Angela in a secret place. The final version that went on the air, however, never explained where Angela was until she returned to Falcon Crest.

Mistake: Kevin's hands are in different positions in subsequent frames in the scene with Lauren, Michael and Kevin in Richard's kitchen because these are various takes combined in the editing process.
Again, this is the typical mistake caused by the particular close-up filming technique — check # 001 (Chase and Maggie at the Gioberti Family Cemetery) for details.

A mistake of the same kind happens shortly later: When Richard comes to the Falcon Crest Victorian Mansion to see Angela again, the angles are from different takes that were combined in the editing process. The positions of (particularly) Pilar's and Lance's heads in the far shot are different from the subsequent close-up as Richard is moving towards Angela; judging from how Richard walks in the far shot, he would have to have gone past the sofa and arrived near the fireplace where Angela is whereas, after the cut, he is crossing the frame in the foreground quite delayed.

Since the beginning of this season, the picture previously known from the Falcon Crest Victorian Mansion foyer has been hanging in the living room. Until the end of season 8, the same picture was hanging on the wall near the stairway landing after the Mansion had been rebuilt (compare # 194). Its new spot on the wall adjacent to the study is perfectly visible in this episode. It is the same prop that was previously used in Lance and Melissa's bedroom in the Mansion between # 030 (see there) and 068 as well as in Frank's guest bedroom in the Mansion in # 182. The same prop was also used in Richard's Whitewood Industries office in New York City (see # 019), in Michael and Terry's bedroom in the McKay House (see # 058), in Gustav's office (see # 077) and in the master bedroom in the Agretti Residence between # 116 (compare there) and the end of season 5. The frame is still the same.

Mistake: Richard touches Lauren's hand with both his hands first. In the subsequent frame (filmed from across), however, his left hand touches her shoulder. The footage is from various takes combined in the editing process.
Again, this is the typical mistake caused by the particular close-up filming technique — check # 001 (Chase and Maggie at the Gioberti Family Cemetery) for details.

Mistake: Genele puts both her legs on the table in Sharpe's yard first, in the next frame (filmed from across), however, only her right leg is on the table. The footage is from various takes combined in the editing process.
This is the typical mistake just described again — check # 001 (Chase and Maggie at the Gioberti Family Cemetery) for details.

The place where Angela and Sharpe meet in Tuscany is near office building 5 at CBS-MTM (now RADFORD STUDIO CENTER). That is a multi-purpose building, last seen as the Meridian Children's Shelter (see # 208) and in the previous season as the Tuscany Interstate Bank (compare # 187).
LORIMAR's original blueprints of this set and many others are available for DFCF members in the Show – Production Office – Filming Locations – Movie Studios – Exterior Sets section.

For unknown reasons, CHAO-LI CHI is replaced by a photo double as the driver of Angela's white limousine although the actor was present while filming. It also remains a mystery why not even a close-up of him (which was actually shot) was used in the final version.

License plate number of Angela's white stretched 1985 Lincoln Town Car limousine: 3S206E5.

License plate number of Michael Sharpe's black stretched 1985 Lincoln Town Car limousine: 3N864A9.

Season time frame:
This episode opens one day after the end of # 224.
Danny says he has been with Sharpe for six months — a very rough estimation considering he came to town towards the end of the previous year (# 215). It is hardly any later than mid-April 1990 now: # 222 depicted the events around mid-March, and only 13 days plus an undefined — but rather short — unseen period of time between # 222 and 223 (see there) went by since then.
Angela woke up from her coma more than one week ago according to day 5 of the current episode. As discussed in # 224 (re: the scene with nurse Natalie), this must have happened during # 224 or even # 223. It will be a mystery where Angela stayed in the meantime.
