The international DVD market is divided into different region codes. Normally, the programming of the discs ("Regional Playback Control") only allows playback on a player from the specific region the discs are assigned to.
 
The back sleeve of the "Falcon Crest" DVD packaging usually contains a symbol of the DVD region of origin.
 
Nevertheless, the DVDs can be played on machines in various other regions. For a regional compatibility check, consult the Media – DVD – Technical Details section with a configuration synopsis for each season.
